PMAC, CMU to work with Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency
2018, January 24: The Port Management Association of the Caribbean, Caribbean Maritime University and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency formally documented a pledge to work together for the common good.
Formality was given to the decision on January 23, 2018 in Panama City, at the inaugural PMAC-Portside Caribbean Port Management Workshop at the Sheraton Grand Panama, when representatives from all three entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the scope and depth of the relationship.
The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) is the regional inter-governmental agency for disaster management in the Caribbean Community, CARICOM. The signing of this MOU, among other things, indicates CEDEMA’s continuing interest in the PMAC-led discussions regarding establishment of a regional quick-response disaster relief network.
PMAC Chair, Bishen John, signed on behalf of the PMAC; Professor Fritz Pinnock signed on behalf of the Caribbean Maritime University and Joanne Persad signed on behalf of CDEMA.
