PMAC signs MOUs with ACS and AAPA

The Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC), congruent with its mandate to establish mutually beneficial alliances with other industry stakeholders, recently entered into two notable MOUs.

On October 16, during the 24th Meeting of the Special Committee on Transport, Chairman Bishen John and Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Amb. Alfonso Múnera Cavadía signed an MOU, the objective of which is to join efforts towards the promotion of capacity development among the ports in the Greater Caribbean Region, through the development of activities related to consultation, project development, exchange of experts, seminars and other similar initiatives.

On November 04 Chairman, Bishen John and Executive Secretary, Glenn Roach notarized an MOU with the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) during its 104th annual conference.

The MOU establishes the basis for mutual understanding and collaboration between the AAPA and PMAC, and provides a framework to pursue cooperative projects regarding areas of mutual interest, including port infrastructural development, human capital development, port security, industrial safety, and environmental quality issues.

Under the terms of the MOU, the organizations will exchange complimentary reciprocal memberships, with AAPA joining PMAC as an Associate Member and PMAC joining AAPA as a Sustaining Member, with all membership benefits included.

In addition, the Executive Secretary of PMAC was elected to the post of Vice Chairman, Caribbean Delegation of the AAPA.

The initial collaborative effort will be an AAPA produced webinar on December 08, featuring cruise industry expert, Mr. Luis Ajamil, P.E., President & CEO of Bermello Ajamil & Partners, Inc., Miami, FL., who will provide insights into current cruise industry trends.
