The Annual General Meeting of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC) will be hosted by the Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority (NASPA) during June 22 – 24, 2016 at the Four Seasons Resort, Pinneys Estate, Nevis.

 Expected to attend in the spirit of collaboration will be delegations of strategic partners such as the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), the Gulf Ports Association of the Americas (GPAA), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission. Correspondingly, a significant highlight of this annual general meeting will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the OECS Commission.

In addition, delegates of the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands will be welcomed as new members, along with Saam Smit Towage, Tysers lnsurance and Reinsurance Brokers, HE&W Consulting Inc. and Stevedoring Services Ltd. as most recent Associate Members of PMAC.

The three-day event will feature technical presentations on a range of topics which include:

  • Remaining competitive and relevant in the Caribbean port environment
  • IMO Developments on Measures to prevent the Loss of Containers
  • Strategic Asset Management and Corporate Indicators for Port Managers
  • Shore Power – Propriety for Ports
  • Implementing a Port Community System
  • Climate Change and Hazard Risk Reduction
  • Securing a Port’s Fence and Perimeter – Reducing Risk

During the Strategic Session of the first day, full members will examine strategic partnerships under the theme “Ports United for the Future”, which will take the form of a panel discussion featuring representatives from PMAC, AAPA, GPAA, ACS, and the OECS.

Members will also be conducting a review of the Association’s structure and operations, and will be presented with a new port insurance initiative by Tysers, as well as information regarding potential areas for collaboration from the Caribbean Development Bank, and competency based training, assessment and certification of dockworkers at the Port of Bridgetown from a combined delegation of Barbados Port Inc, Caribbean Maritime institute, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council of Barbados.

Delegates will be met at the airport in St. Kitts and transported to the ferry terminal by St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) staff, while staff of NASPA will be on hand to escort them over to Nevis when practicable. In any event, delegates will be met at the airport and ferry terminal in Nevis, and transported to the hotel. Transportation will also be provided between the Mount Nevis and the Conference Hotel, compliments of the host.

The Secretariat and the Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority look forward to welcoming delegates to the nineteenth Annual General Meeting of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean.
