Our Mission Statement: To foster operational and financial efficiency, and to enhance the level of service to the mutual benefit of Caribbean Ports and their stakeholders, through the sharing of experience, training, information and ideas

The twentieth Annual General Meeting of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC) was held in Grand Cayman – Marriott Resort from 21st June – 24th June, 2017.

The Cayman Islands, well known for a long and colorful history, was indeed the right place to host this meeting, as all attendees could not only enjoy the fruitful meetings and presentations, but also have a glimpse of Grand Cayman itself.

The gracious host, Port Authority of the Cayman Islands, made sure that every participant from the moment of arrival, felt at home with the hospitality that was bestowed upon them.  The opening on June 21st was well attended with a list of distinguished speakers who addressed the audience, and the Cayman National Song was sung by Ms. Anika Colony, Ms. Cayman Islands 2017.

A total of eighty-two (82) delegates representing fifteen member ports, and thirteen associate member companies, as well as strategic partners, observer organisations, sponsors and exhibitors, participated in the full three days agenda, and the signing of an MOU amongst PMAC, Caribbean Maritime University, and Lamar University, was a significant event of the proceedings.

The Executive Committee left nothing undone to prepare a decisive meeting, whereby the Strategic Session, Business Meeting, and technical presentations provided a comprehensive overview regarding the Association’s focus and the way forward. This resolute and professional approach lead to the unanimous re-election of the Committee. Accordingly, Chairman Bishen John on behalf of the members, humbly thanked the Council of Members for their trust, and underlined the importance of working together as Caribbean ports to achieve the mutually beneficial objectives of PMAC.

The organizing committee headed by Doris Jackson, assisted by Robyn Hera and her port team, did a wonderful job for which they were applauded. The Welcome Reception, Cultural Evening at Pedro St. James Castle, and the Awards Dinner spoke of excellence, and will linger in the memories of delegates.

The Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority was again awarded the Novaport Cup for most improved port performance,  and could proudly take the trophy back home, having also been the awardee in 2016.

The hospitality of the host, the Port Authority of the Cayman Islands, the generosity of sponsors, and the invaluable contributions to the high standard of deliberation made by delegates, ultimately contributed to a very enjoyable and productive twentieth Annual General Meeting.
