PMAC and CMI Deliver Training In Warehousing and Hazardous Cargo Handling

The Port Management Association of the Caribbean (P.M.A.C.), in collaboration with Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) and the Shipping Association of Barbados (SAB), successfully presented two workshops during August 31 – September 04 in Barbados.

The workshops, a three day Fundamentals of Warehouse Logistics and Inventory Management and a two day Handling of Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Cargo (IMGD Code), were delivered by the Caribbean Maritime Institute - School of Advanced Skills, and attended by thirty-eight employees of five regional ports including Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority, Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority, Barbados Port Inc., British Virgin Islands Port Authority, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority, as well as employees of allied industry stakeholders such as Barbados Industrial Development Corporation, Barbados National Oil Company Ltd., Goddards Shipping and Tours Ltd., and Massy Shipping Services Ltd.

The interactive course was available to staff at various levels and the successful participants will be awarded professional certification benchmarked to international and industry standards i.e. International Maritime Organizaton (IMO) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and supported by an ISO 9001 – 2008 Lloyd’s register quality assurance framework.
